We received a call from a San Diego shelter. A family had brought in a 9 month old girl, who the shelter worker described as “buckets of love.” She had been purchased from a breeder as a 12 week old baby. At 8 months she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and required surgery. Instead of helping her, her family brought her to the shelter to be euthanized. This little girl was turned down by one rescue, we were her last chance. SCGSR had to step in to help, we couldn’t let her die without, at the least, an exam by our vet. Let’s let this little “buckets of love” get well and get a forever home who adores her! Hi Everyone. Im Picasso, a very handsome, gentle, smart and appreciative senior Bichon of about 12 years. Im a sweet and loyal guy who is patient (with other dogs and people), mellow and very smart the type of guy who loves everyone (You should see me at the front door I am quite the greeter!) but does so in a quiet kind of way. Im just happy to be safe and in a loving home once again. You see one day, not so very long ago, my mom and dad had to move away so they told me to be a brave boy and they took me to the shelter. They had me groomed and I looked very handsome but no one came to get me as the shelter was very far away. I wondered if I would ever have a home of my own again but I got lucky and became a furkid. I wasnt sure about the car ride at first because I didnt know where I was going. But my foster mom is really nice and very kind, so I started to relax. When I got to my foster home the very best thing happened: there were other FurKids there. And I found a new buddy. His name is Henry Jack. Mom swears that I talk to him then we both wag our tails and start to play. She says that I am always very gentle when I play with Henry Jack cause I am bigger than he is but if you asked Henry Jack hed say Im always gentle and patient no matter what we are doing. Dad calls me a real gem. He says to tell you that Im housebroken, sweet as can be and always seem to know what Im supposed to do (or not do.) For example Dad says I chew only on my chewee (When Mom works on the computer I like to bring it in to the room, lay down near her and chew contentedly away while she works.) I also know how to bark but I rarely do so instead I make a soft cooing sound. I ride well in the car and am getting to take longer and longer walks now. You see before I became a FurKid I needed better nutrition and exercise than what I was getting. Now I take short walks every day, go up and down stairs and play in the backyard. Life is good! And, according to Mom, I am the bestest and most loyal buddy she has ever known. She says I follow her throughout the house, quietly basking in her company. Then, when its dark, I go to the bedroom, walk over to my bed and stare at it then up at Mom. Since Moms smart she figured out that I was asking if its time to go to sleep. And when she says yes, well then I fluff up my blankie and settle in for the night without another sound. As you can see, Im very mellow and easy to have around. Mom says I also understand every word she says to me and that when I look up at her with my big, brown soulful eyes that I can get anything I want. Boston Terrier - Small - Young - Female - Dog - Mollie

Age: 1 Personality: Age: 1 Weight: 19 pounds Mollie is a very loving and friendly little girl who would love a home as an only child, or possibly with other small-breed male dogs (no females or large dogs). I do not know how she is with cats so no cats please. Issues: Does not play well with other females. She also will potentially swallow small objects/toys. She ate a baby toy and had to have surgery to remove it from her GI tract. Other than that, she is doing great at her foster home! She is housebroken, crate-trained, and very sweet. Mollie is a precious little Boston who is full of love. She came to us after she apparently ate a baby toy and needed surgery to remove it from her GI tract. Sadly, in these tough financial times, her previous owners could not afford the surgery and opted to allow us to take over her care. She is fully recovered from her surgery now, with no residual problems. She took a little while to warm up to my male Bostons, but now they play great together. She has not, however, warmed up to my female Boxer, and her previous owners mentioned she does not get along well with other females or large-breed dogs. She is housebroken and loves car rides. She is full of energy, loves toys of all kinds (but should be supervised as she may chew off pieces and swallow them!), and loves her walks. She also enjoys a good sunbath. She truly is a snuggle bug, loves to cuddle in a lap, and gets excited when you throw the ball for her. She is a healthy, active girl, and ready for a loving home! Issues: Does not like female or big dogs. Will be best as an only pet. Must be monitored to be sure she does not eat toys. Mollie wants to sleep in your bed at night with you.
